What keeps us going as we grow older? How important is it to strategize planning with families for end-of-life care and decisions? What matters when making decisions about working, retirement, where to live, and medical care? Should we face the music or bury our heads in the sand? These classmates will tackle such issues and more as the great Class of ’73 approaches them in the next phase of their lives.

Our panel is about baseball and community; the impact baseball has had and continues to have on joining people, communities, enterprise, and a love of the game from the very local, to national, and even international perspective. We will also explore baseball in today’s media landscape, and the pressures to modify the game to increase viewership.

We invite everyone to join this gathering, whether you have grappled with your own alcohol and substance abuse problems or with those of a loved one. A ’78 classmate will conduct a basic open AA meeting, talk briefly about his own recovery, and then open up the discussion to the floor. While the meeting will be open to anyone who wishes to learn about the 12 steps, what is spoken in the meeting shall remain in the meeting, per the tradition of anonymity shared by all three programs.
